RUNNING COSTS: A typical 2 person hot tub holds much less water than family sized tubs. Pretty obvious really, and obviously the less water you have to heat the lower your monthly energy bills. Of course a spacious tub is great, but too spacious just being used by two people well that’s an expensive indulgence.

WEIGHT: The difference in dry weight between a hot tub for two and a family sized hot tub that much. A quality small hot tub can actually be a tad heavier if it’s well insulated. But when we fill up with water there can be up to 1000lb difference. A typical 2 person tub and water might weigh 2000lbs or less and larger plug and play tubs upwards of 3000lbs when filled.

SIZE AND SHAPE: As you’ll see in our reviews the footprint of a two person spa is pretty small, but if you choose one of our corner spa options well you can tuck a really effective hot tub out of the way pretty much anywhere with a corner and a plug close by. 2 Person Spa Pre Purchase Pointers

Hot tubs for two often live outside, and very often on decking or balconies so weight may an issue. For small 2 seater tubs it’s rarely a showstopper, but still needs to be considered.If there’s some doubt then just add extra reinforcement but if that’s not possible then consider siting the hot tub as close to load bearing walls or columns as possible. Corner style plug and play hot tubs or an inflatable tub are particularly convenient in this case.
As important as securing the space where your hot tub will live is making sure it can make the journey from the delivery company drop off point to its final destination.The dry weight of each tub is different but with the exception of inflatable tubs they are all large and heavy items. If you need to then reach out to the carrier company prior to delivery to find out their policies and pay for extra help and equipment if required.
All the 2 person hot tubs in these reviews can be run off a regular 110v outlet, some may require a 20 amp fuse but most are happy with a 15 amp.If you enjoy winter hot tubbing then you might consider buying a plug and play tub and upgrading to a 220v electrical outlet. That will ensure a faster and more consistent heating profile. It’s not entirely necessary though, it’s just a “nice to have”.

Finding the best 2 person hot tub that ticks all your boxes is made a little easier when you know what boxes to look for.

First do you want to be soaking right next to your partner or looking straight at them from a distance?? If you’re enjoying a 2 person hot tub then for sure you’re never going to be far from your hot tub partner but the layout of the tub seating is something worth consider. Unlike some larger capacity tubs seating in a small one is pretty well a given.

If you enjoy outdoor winter hot tubbing then definitely choose a plug and play hot tub you can upgrade to 220v. You don’t have to, but it’s nice to have the extra power for faster heating. There really is no extra cost on the ticket price of a tub that allows you to do this. Actually it still makes sense even if it’s a few bucks more.

If you’re buying for help with a medical condition or for a senior then you may well have a quite specific criteria for jet placement and ease of entry and exit from the hot tub.
